Job Description

D. E. Shaw India is seeking an exceptionally gifted individual for the role of Senior Network Engineer for our Systems group in Hyderabad. This person will be part of a team spanning across our offices globally. Candidates should have superb network design, implementation, and troubleshooting skills, as well as strong programming skills and an excellent understanding of best-of-breed network management practices.

Responsibilities include:

Developing scalable network designs for both our campus and global networks.
Identifying, researching, and evaluating emerging network technologies.
Developing and implementing network management and related tools.
Engineering solutions for the firm's growing, highly-resilient network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate must have: - 5+ years of experience with enterprise-level network design.

A bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering.

Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise-class routers and switches. (Cisco experience would be a plus).
Superior understanding of network routing and switching protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet-level traffic analysis.
In-depth understanding of network security and access control. Experience with VoIP, QoS, and IP Telephony technologies.
Experience with network management automation, and scripting in Perl, Python, or Java.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Creative problem-solving abilities.
Experience with UNIX Systems administration.
Prior exposure to Solaris/Linux would be a plus.

Network and security certifications such as CCNP and CCIE are a definite plus.
