Duties & Responsibilities

This is an interesting opportunity for a seasoned Senior Accountant to join a small yet ambitious organisation supporting UK Accounting Firms. On a day to day basis you would be responsible for all aspects of workflow for several staff that range from qualified, newly qualified to trainee.

The majority of the work will be accounts preparation and management accounts work with some audit content also.

A key feature of this role is the ability to progress and it is their preference that you would be a fairly dynamic individual.

* Group reporting, across the UK/Europe area. Monthly management, quarterly and statutory accounts. Summarise monthly management accounts and ensure all queries/analysis relating to the profitability and gross margins are appropriately dealt with.

* To be technically up to date with IFRS & statutory reporting requirements.

* Liaison with professional advisors in and across UK/Europe.

* Ensure all VAT/Tax issues are properly understood and dealt with.

* Improve the reporting and analysis of the KPI's, the sales/profitability reporting by customer, product and geographical location.

* Process improvement. Have the ability to develop with the role.

Candidate Specification

* This role will suit a self-starter who has Excellent Communication skills to be able to liaise with our UK clientele.

* Someone who has strong business acumen and keeps up to date with business and financial news.

* Someone who is interested in providing a quality and relevant service to our clients

* Supervising amongst other things payroll, daily banking, bank reconciliation, VAT returns. Similarly, preparation of and processing of payments, bank transfers and processing of bills of costs in accordance.

* Other duties will include some HR matters, detailed involvement with the growth of practice and interaction with the shareholders and directors.

* You will also have good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and have a positive and professional attitude.

Experience and Qualifications

You must have worked for or currently working in a firm of chartered or certified accountants

* Roughly 3 + years post-qualified experience.

* Knowledge of Sage Accounts &Sage Practice Solutions and Sage taxation software is an advantage.

* Experience of handling a wide range of client portfolio’s

* Good IT/Excel skills. Ability to build on and add value to the existing reports we have in the business. UK based software packages.

* Ability to deal with a wide variety of people across different countries/areas of the business.

* A good eye for detail, whilst also having the ability to see the bigger picture.

Job Description

You will be either ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified and must currently be working for or most recently have worked for a firm of Chartered or Certified Accountants or for a UK client.

* You will be equally skilled in audit and accounts and will have risen to a level where you are managing a team of staff who are engaged in accounts preparation and probably audit also.

* You will be a good and confident Manager and feel comfortable in a role where although the Shareholders and Directors will be available for questions the day to day running of the role will be largely unsupported.

* Producing cash flows, forecasts and budgets

* Management of work scheduling and staff

* Some tax and/or audit depending on your strengths
